Every year, there is a lot of anxiety and worry among students and parents regarding cut-offs of colleges for admission into BDS, MBBS Courses through NEET. We aim to provide you with all information through this single blog post.
You need to first qualify for NEET 2017 Counselling before the admission process begins.
In order to qualify NEET 2017, candidates belonging to General Category have to secure a minimum of 50 percentile score in the test, while, those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), the minimum cut off score to obtain is 40 percentile. Further, on the basis of NEET 2017 cut off, the score card of NEET 2017 will specify whether the candidate is NEET qualified or non-qualified. Further, among the qualified candidates, the top 15% scorers will be directly eligible to participate in NEET 2017 counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats. On the basis of NEET 2017 Cut off, NEET rank range for participation in 15% All India Quota (AIQ) counselling will be declared separately.

Caution : Qualifying is not the same as getting Admission
The above table gives you the marks required to be eligible for any seat in Medical Colleges through NEET. After Counselling, you may or may not get admission in to a medical college. That is why qualification should be considered as minimum requirement only.
You need to search for the last year cut offs in your nearby/preferred colleges and compare it with your score to get an idea. You should select your preferences according to last year’s cutoffs of colleges. You will be informed about your admission at the Counselling.
What Exactly is NEET Counselling ?
NEET Counselling is just another word for online admission procedure.
The merit list of the eligible and successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats will be prepared by the CBSE on the basis of score obtained in NEET 2017. The merit list will be equal to the number of seats available for allotment of MBBS/BDS courses under 15% All India Quota seats. There will also be a waiting list equal to 4 times of merit list.
The Procedure of Counselling is simple :
- Register yourself for Online Counselling.
- Fill up your preferred colleges and lock the choices.
- Results will be declared.
The seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of rank & opted choice of colleges.
