Percentages – Topic for Quantitative Aptitude Test

Percentages is a very basic topic asked in Quantitative Aptitude Tests. The topic revolves around the concept of Percentages.

What are Percentages

A Percentage is a part of a number out of 100 parts. That is, if we divide a number into 100 parts, what portion of the number is it?

For example, suppose a student scores 90 out of 100. We can say that the student has scored 90% which is 90 parts out of 100. Similarly, if a student scores 45 out of 50, we can divide 50 into 100 parts. So each mark is equivalent to 2 parts of a total of 50. Thus, the student has scored 90%, i.e. 90 parts out of 100.

The Golden Formula of Percentages

There is just one formula that you need to remember for solving questions related to Percentages:

Percentage = (Number/Total) x 100
