What to do if you are weak in a Subject

What to do if you are weak in a Subject

Let’s admit this : We all are weak in some subject or the other. No matter whether you are a topper or an average, you will always find subjects that are more difficult than the rest.

Here, in this post, we will discuss various techniques and tips to help you deal with your weakest subjects.

Stop Complaining

Many students lose out on their weak subjects only because of their mindset. They would mostly spend their time complaining about their weak subjects. Such students would never ever come out of their weakness.

So, you need to give up the victim mindset and have an objective approach to your problems. So, the first step in getting strong in your weak subjects is – “STOP COMPLAINING” !

Acceptance

You need to accept that you are weak at a subject. At the same time, you need to also accept that you need to be strong in this particular subject for your academic performance. Once, you “accept” your current circumstances, as well as the future challenges, you would stop complaining and start working achieving excellence in your weak subjects.

If you hit obstacles in your path to excellence, accept them and keep going.

Believe

If you believe that you can improve your weaknesses, you have a better chance of doing so. Part of building your confidence is regularly telling yourself that you can overcome your weakness. Another part of confidence building is the ability to move beyond mistakes and failures.

In your path to excellence, you will come across failure and mistakes. You may have already faced them as well. What counts is how you don’t let these failures and mistakes to affect your preparation.

Most students, unknowingly give up on certain chapters as soon as they start facing difficulty in it. Many students unknowingly start reducing their efforts on a particular chapter, as it gets challenging. Thus, you need to increase your efforts after each mistake/failure. Your mindset alone could put you above so many of these students in a fiercely competitive environment.

Set Clear Goals

Now, you need to set goals and take action in the right direction. Analyze your weaknesses and strengths and then come up with a proper timetable that can help you achieve that goal. Do read ” How to set and follow a Timetable “, to get help in creating a schedule that works !

Study Smarter

Many students who do poorly in examinations have a common complaint : “I study so much yet I don’t get good grades”. The underlying cause of this is lack of concentration and focus. Don’t let your mind drift away while studying your weak subjects.

Be Consistent

You won’t become proficient in your weak subjects within a day. It may take a week or a month. Don’t get disheartened if it seems to be hard. Be consistent with your efforts. Persist when everybody else is giving up on their weak subjects.

  4. Set clear goals in order to achieve the target. Clarity is the key.
